Dressing for a boxing fitness-themed photomeet requires blending sporty, functional attire with an edgy, photo-ready aesthetic. Here’s some ideas of what to wear and ideas to stand out. You may layer pieces you can remove for variety in your looks (e.g., hoodies, robes, jackets).
Key Themes to Keep in Mind
Sporty Chic: Functional gym wear with fashionable touches.
Boxing Iconography: Incorporate classic boxing elements like gloves, wraps, and gear.
Edgy Vibes: Gritty, raw, and bold looks work well in a boxing setting.
Comfort and Movement: Outfits should allow free movement for dynamic poses.
General Tips
Color Palette: Stick to bold, high-contrast colors like black, red, white, or metallic tones. Neon accents can add a modern flair.
Textures: Mix and match materials like leather, satin, mesh, and cotton for depth.
Props: Use boxing gloves, jump ropes, heavy bags, and water bottles for dynamic poses.
Hair and Makeup: Go for a slicked-back ponytail, messy buns, or braids. Makeup can range from natural and sweaty to bold and dramatic for an editorial look.

Photographers:
Photographers should arrive with their equipment ready to shoot. Please arrive by 11pm. Connect with fellow creatives and explore the space for inspiration, and take a few test shots.
A detailed schedule will be provided the week of the event (week of 2/10) so we have a better idea on how we can help keep things running smoothly. Introductions and briefing will take place at 11:15am, followed by a group photo and group assignments. Then shooting begins. Please be prepared to work with the models in block sessions. To ensure a productive and enjoyable experience for everyone, below are some general guidelines on how the event will be organized. These guidelines aim to ensure smooth operation, foster mutual learning, and encourage collaboration to create masterpieces together.
Team Pairing: At the start, models will be paired with 2-3 fellow photographers. This ensures a collaborative and creative environment. More details will be provided the week of the event (i.e., the individuals in each group and the zones assigned to each).
Group Management: Within your group, you’ll decide the order in which each photographer gets their dedicated time to work with the model. This allows everyone an equal opportunity to direct and capture their vision.
Rotations: Each group will spend ~30 minutes with a model before rotating to a new one. A detailed schedule will be provided the week of the event so we have a better idea on how we can help keep things running smoothly. Designations can be more free-flowing as rotations take place, and each photographer should aim to shoot with every model.
The final shots should be finalized around 1:30pm. Depending on your input, we can also designate the last 20 min for a group shoot in which models fake spar with each other (for example).
Zones: The photomeet will take place in a boxing gym, which I will scope out by the end of January to identify distinct zones for each group. I’ll send photos of these zones in advance so we can start thinking about your setups and creative ideas.
Changes are bound to happen, so let’s work together to be flexible and adapt as best as we can! If you have any questions, please let me know. :)
